Calfkiller Brewing Company

Standing apart in an industry where neck tattoos and facial piercings are status quo requires a uniquely rebellious spirit. Brothers Don and Dave Sergio founded Calfkiller Brewing Company when their home county was still dry, where the nearest microbrew community was 80 miles away, and with no capital other than their endless creativity and infectious passion for good beer. "Brewed free of the tyranny of stylistic oppression," their beers enjoy a booming demand that spans across the state of Tennessee.

When asked to help with the Calfkiller logo and website, Brandsmith used the same self-reliant, unfiltered approach with which Calfkiller crafts their beer. The logo's woodcut, organic styling reflects the paradoxical balance between simplicity and complexity found in Calfkiller's beers. The hops, moon, and stars pay homage to the wizardry that gives Calfkiller its unique flavor and drinkability. The result is a mark as iconic as any you will find in the Tennessee beer landscape. Their website was designed using photographic textures from the charming brewery they built by hand and features videos that bring you on a virtual tour of the entire Calfkiller brewing process.
